That DC was lagging compared to its other superhero studio counterparts and needed revamping was evident. Despite this, the decision to bring in new creative heads was met with reluctance. After much hoo haa, James Gunn and Peter Safran finally had the time to sit on their new CEO chairs and get to work. And soon enough, a new chapter for DC titled ‘Gods and Monsters’ was prepared. Contrary to their stance earlier, the majority of DC fans rejoiced as the upcoming projects guaranteed stellar material to look forward to. Although Suicide Squad was not on the papers, fans have found a role for Will Smith.

As Will Smith’s career went into a slump following his Oscar 2022 controversy, many believed that a superhero role was a necessity in the recipe to get him back to the top. And looks like the search has finally ended, as the new DC executives announced a TV series with Green Lantern at the helm of affairs, titled the Lanterns TV show.

Fans imagine Will Smith as Green Lantern in DC

DC was preparing to launch the Green Lantern TV show along with HBO Max. However, Greg Berlanti, Peter Safran, and James Gunn found themselves in a creative difference pit that they couldn’t overcome, leaving the show with a new name and no creative forces behind it. However, it has not been scrapped and is very much going to be a front-runner in the shows that will serve as a bridge between the DCEU and the new DC. The HBO series will follow John Stewart and Hal Jordan. And Stryder HD has designed the perfect trailer by casting Will Smith as John Stewart.

Smith is an effortless actor and there is not a hint of doubt that he will be a brilliant John Stewart. However, the fanmade Green Lantern trailer does a perfect job at giving fans the gist of what Will Smith as John Stewart would look like, rendering them incapable of moving on.

Will the movie star move to the silver screen?

The casting of Will Smith as John Stewart is perfect. So much so that after watching the fan-made trailer, the audience will find it difficult to accept any other actor in the role. While many believe that a superhero movie would do the actor good at this point in his career, it is highly doubtful that he will agree.

Smith may have suffered from a downfall in popularity, but not one in relevance. He is still booked and busy with Bad Boys, I Am Legend 2 and more. For him to step down to the silver screen would require a script that would make him say ‘Hell yeah!’ instead of his trademark ‘Oh Hell Naw!‘ and a data of Loki’s success on Disney+ Hotstar.
