Will Smith has been having a tough year. Ever since the 2022 Oscars incident, where he slapped the host of the night, Chris Rock, the actor has been under the microscope. He had walked onstage to Rock when he made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s condition. The altercation took place during the live ceremony, and Smith was banned from the Academy due to his indecent behavior. The incident inspired The Hollywood Reporter to write an article about the stars whose offscreen antics have hampered their chances of winning an Oscar.

While several outlets have covered the infamous Oscars fiasco, this particular article hit a nerve with Smith fans when it clubbed together the actor with Brad Pitt. Enraged fans have taken to Twitter to slam the publication for the article.

Will Smith fans are enraged over his comparison with Brad Pitt
While both stars are Hollywood A-listers, fans are not happy to find the Independence Day actor’s name on the same list as that of Brad Pitt. Apparently, they think it is highly inappropriate to compare Will Smith with other celebs that were accused of violence or sexual misconduct in the past. Other than the two stars, the list also includes Casey Affleck, Letitia Wright, Roman Polanski, and Woody Allen.

While Smith was never accused of any sexual misconduct or domestic violence offscreen, Pitt has recently come under fire. The Bullet Train actor was accused of abuse and domestic violence in October when Angelina Jolie filed a complaint against him. Apparently, the actor terrorized Jolie and her kids on the 2016 flight. The couple broke up following that incident and the Tomb Raider actress sought divorce soon after. While the 58-year-old has not apologized for his behavior, Smith has. He has repeatedly reached out to Rock, but the latter is not ready to hear his apology.
Nonetheless, Smith is getting ready to make a comeback with Emancipation.
