The upcoming projects of the DCU will not see many fan-favorite actors. It will also not see some fan-favorite characters in the same light as well. However, one of the loved and adored characters, Deadshot, portrayed by Will Smith will be back. Does this mean the Oscar-winning actor is back in DCU?

Apart from Batman, Superman, Flash, and Joker, Floyd Lawton A.K.A Deadshot, is also a loved character of the DCU. Suicide Squad was the film that featured the character for the first time on screen. After appearing in the film, the Emancipation actor is going to reprise his role as Deadshot in James Gunn’s future projects, reported Giant Freakin Robot. Although the movie, Suicide Squad, did not receive many positive reviews. However, many actors and their portrayals of the characters got the recognition they deserved.

Smith’s Deadshot was one of them. In 2021, Gunn’s The Suicide Squad was to feature Smith’s character as well. However, because of the tight schedule, the 51-year-old actor could not make it. At the time, Gunn also approached Idris Elba to portray Deadshot. However, in their first meeting itself, the now DC boss decided to give Elba another role of Superman villain Bloodsport.

The decision to not to cast Elba for Deadshot left the scope of Smith’s return open. Moreover, there are a lot of similarities between Elba’s Bloodsport and Smith’s Deadshot. Well, both actors justified their respective roles. And now, Smith fans must be happy to see the return of their favorite actor in his iconic role. Although there are no official details about in which project the Aladdin actor is going to star. But having him back must make his fans happy.

The 2016 David Ayer’s Suicide Squad stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, and many more. The movie is based on the DC Comics supervillain/anti-hero team of the same name as the film.
