It is a well-known fact that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle don’t share a very good relationship with the Royal family. They had a fallout in 2020 when they gave away their titles of senior royals. In a bid to become financially independent, Harry and Meghan made a move to the USA where they currently live with their two children, namely Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. 

However, things are expected to change following the demise of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch and second-longest monarch of a sovereign country, Queen Elizabeth II. As an heir to Her Majesty, King Charles III has ascended the throne. With King Charles III as the new monarch, the dynamics of the royal family are expected to turn upside down. But will it change the titles of Harry and Meghan? 

What can change in the royal titles for Harry and Meghan?

Following the coronation ceremony of King Charles III, a number of changes will be made in his own lineage. His wife Camilla will be now called Queen Consort instead of the Duchess of Cornwall. The next heir to the throne, Prince William, is honored with the title of Prince of Wales, making his wife Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales. Prince Harry and Meghan are also eligible for holding royal titles. 

However, it is up to them if they wish to reconcile with their family and move back to Britain. While there is a mystery over the titles for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their children, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor are now eligible to be called Prince and Princess. 

The two were born without any royal titles. However, with their grandfather ascending the throne, they will also have titles. The 1917 protocol by King George V states that the grandchildren and children of the monarch will have the right to be addressed as His Royal Highness and Her Royal Highness. However, Meghan and Harry will be the ones deciding if they want the royal titles for Archie and Lilibet.
