Meghan Markle does not share a cordial relationship with Prince Harry’s brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton. The two households are often pitted against each other. The tension between Sussexes and the Cambridge couple was also quite evident as they participated in the Queen’s funeral and service a few days back.

Amidst the rumors of the rift, the royal correspondent Valentine Low revealed one instance where Prince William and Kate Middleton were upset with Meghan Markle for knocking them out of the headlines and stealing all the limelight. What Markle Markle did that overshadowed the Prince and Princess of Wales?

Meghan Markle stole the spotlight from Kate and William

Following the birth of Archie in 2019, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle traveled to South Africa for a royal tour. At the same time, Prince William and Kate Middleton left for Pakistan. Both the royal couples were the talk of the town. However, on the final day of the trip, Meghan caught the attention of all the tabloids due to her explosive ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey.

The interview saw the Duchess of Sussex reveal the pressure of being a member of the royal family and all the scrutiny and the press attention that comes along with that. Speaking to Tom Brady, Meghan Markle candidly spoke about how the increased media attention past Archie’s birth hampered her mental health. The former actress reckoned that it has been a challenging task for her. 

“Thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m OK. But it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes,” Markle mentioned in the documentary. Meghan’s claim about not being a good mental space stole all the limelight, which managed to upset William and Kate

The couple felt overshadowed by the Sussexes and were quite “unhappy” about the same. Their team also thought it to be a deliberate move by Meghan to get all the media attention. 

“William and Kate’s team was not happy, it seems, and saw it as a deliberate attempt to knock the couple out of the headlines. Relations between the two households became quite tense,” the royal author Valentine Low said as quoted by Mirror.
