Attorney Joelle Rich was one of the lawyers representing Depp in the famous 2020 libel case against the British tabloid, The Sun. The actor sued the newspaper for calling him a “wife-beater.” Unfortunately, Depp lost the libel case against the newspaper. Joelle Rich is a partner at the law firm Schillings, which works to defend its clients against defamatory allegations. However, Depp is not the only big name Rich has represented. Previously, the 37-year-old lawyer represented the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, during her case against the publishers of the British daily tabloid, The Mail. The Duchess of Sussex filed a lawsuit against the publisher of the esteemed daily for invading her privacy. In 2018, Daily Mail published a private letter shared between Meghan and her father, Thomas Markle.

Although Rich was not on Depp’s legal team for the defamation Virginia trial against Amber Heard, the London-based lawyer was present in several proceedings to show her support for the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
