Sally Hardesty, played by Marilyn Burns, was the only survivor of Leatherface’s killing spree in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but she remained scarred by her dreadful experience. Netflix is bringing another sequel to 1974’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, titled Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The latest film is bringing back an old character, Sally Hardesty. Those new to the franchise as wondering who the character is. So, here were are to shed some light on the character.

Who is Sally Hardesty in ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?

In the 1974’s film, Sally traveled to Texas with her brother Franklin and a few of her friends, to investigate the disturbed grave of their uncle. The entire group stepped into danger when they picked up a deranged hitchhiker on the road, who is a member of the Sawyer family, a serial killer family of cannibals. They tormented the entire group and killed them all except Sally. After being captured and tormented for many days, Sally Hardesty escaped the massacre, but she was never the same.

In the new sequel, she is ready to take her revenge after 50 years, on the cannibalistic killer. She was never the same after Leatherface killed her friends and brother. After fifty years, the character is returning with this new sequel film.

In the trailer, we have witnessed, Sally Hardesty played by Olwen Fouéré says, “Fifty years I’ve been waiting for this night.. just to see him again”, as she reached out at a photo of her family and friends, who were killed by Leatherface.

In the 1974’s film, Marilyn Burns plays the role of Sally Hardesty. Burns again played the same role, Sally in the 1995 sequel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. In the sequel, she was merely a cameo at the end of the film, encountering the film’s lead, Jenny, in a hospital. She even had a cameo as Verna Sawyer-Carson, grandmother of Heather, the lead in Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013).

However, Burns will not return as the revenge-seeking sally in the upcoming Netflix film as the actress passed away in her in 2014. Replacing her, we will have Olwen Fouéré taking up the role of Sally.
