Stevin John has created the over-the-top character, who wears orange sunglasses, beret, bowtie, and suspenders. John served in the US Air Force before he ventured into the entertainment-cum-education business. Stevin was appalled by the low-quality videos his two-year-old nephew was watching on YouTube.
Thus, Stevin started the journey of Blippi on YouTube on January 27, 2014. Currently, the creator has multiple channels on YouTube in various domains from songs to toys. The immense popularity of Blippi triggered streaming platforms like Hulu, Amazon Kids+, and Peacock to gain distributing rights of the series.
Is there a new Blippi?
However, even a kids’ celebrity cannot stay away from controversy, and Blippi also faced one. Back in 2019, Stevin John had announced a live tour, which received a great response. However, fans later found out another actor would portray the role of Blippi instead of Stevin. Many parents were livid and demanded refunds, as they felt betrayed.

“I won’t be on the road, but I am obviously extremely involved with the whole process,” John justified his absence to Billboard. “Blippi is as a character and I’m the creative force behind it, but since YouTube is a monster and all of these platforms are really crazy I can’t go on the road for many weeks or months at a time.”
Clayton Grimm was the actor who replaced Stevin on the live tour. The stage actor has graduated from the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts/Strasberg + Classical Studio. Clayton has also donned the costume of The Flash on an international tour of DC’s Justice League.

However, parents need not worry about Blippi on Netflix, as the creator himself has played the role of the character. Since Netflix has recorded versions of Blippi, we doubt the actor will replace Stevin.
