Where Is Stay Close Filmed? Where Is It Set?
The latest adaptation of a Harlan Coben novel, Stay Close, is streaming on Netflix. This is not the first series that brings Coben’s genius to the screen; we already saw Safe, followed by The Stranger, The Woods, and The Innocent.
January 2022 couldn’t have asked for a better start than this, as we went on a thrilling journey with yet another miniseries. The beautiful scenic beauty baffled many people and they couldn’t help but ask: where is Stay Close filmed? And we are here to give you an answer.

Now, the fans of the novel will definitely notice a plethora of changes that are brought into the Netflix adaptation; but the biggest change is the setting of the entire storyline. The novel originally was set in the United States but they switched it to the United Kingdom in the miniseries.
Where is Stay Close set?
Harlan Coben’s entire novel Stay Close is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey. However, the Netflix Original series moved the story across the pond to a British town by the name of Ridgewood.
We have to be honest though, Britain is undoubtedly a great place to have a mystery thriller set in, and honestly, you won’t even mind that they changed the location of the show.
Where is Stay Close filmed?
The producers filmed the entire show in the north-western part of England, primarily in the cities of Manchester and Blackpool.

Speaking to Manchester Evening News, Coben shared: “[As well as Manchester], we also used Blackpool, while the book is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Blackpool really looks a lot like Atlantic City! It’s always a challenge to move things around.”

Coben continued: “I know some people are like ‘you’re not keeping true to the book’, but I love that hybrid of what British crime does so well and what I do in novels. I love making changes. A book is a book and a TV series is a TV series. They are not the same thing and they shouldn’t be. Both should be compelling stories, but the worst adaptations are the ones that are slavishly devoted to the text.”
We are hoping we get to see more of these locations should Netflix opt to make Stay Close Season 2.
