Arnold Schwarzenegger is often considered to be one of the best bodybuilders the world has seen. The six-time Mr Olympia medals are among the several other great records that he has to his name. Therefore, when the Austrian Oak decided to take this grandeur into the acting industry, his action stunts were often used as the selling point. A Schwarzenegger movie in the 90s became synonymous with a lot of action and less substance. And the actor decided to shift the narrative by starring alongside Danny DeVito in the now-iconic comedy film.

The movie, instead of making Schwarzenegger’s action stunts do the heavy lifting, decided to trust his acting caliber. However, the Austrian Oak had to pay a huge price for this risk.

Pumping Iron, Conan the Barbarian, Terminator, and Commando, despite being different movies, are tied at the core because of Schwarzenegger’s action stunts. The actor longed for a role that would allow him to be more than a handsome face with great fighting skills. And Twins in 1988 became just that.

His first century at the box office and also the first of many Schwarzenegger-starrer comedy movies that were to come. However, The Terminator actor would later go on to reveal how he refused to take his salary from the box-office hit. “They were like, ‘No, we know we are going to make money with you if you do action movies, Literally, for ‘Twins’ I took no salary,” said Schwarzenegger during a promotional event for another, according to Business Insider.

His only aim at that time was to prove that his comedy movies could be as much of a success as his action gimmicks. And he never imagined that it would reach the heights that it did at the box office. Despite being his first century, the actor refused any monetary benefits from Twins and instead was grateful for the gateways that it opened for him.
