From being a superhero to transforming into a legendary witcher he has always taken care of his physique. The actor once took on a darker side by playing a negative role in Mission Impossible: Fallout. Since he was standing against the renowned name in Hollywood Tom Cruise, deviation from regular training is much needed. The Enola Holmes actor, thus, tried new techniques and workouts to prepare for his role. From all his workouts the actor has revealed one sport that best suits him to build his physique.

Henry Cavill fell in love with this sport in his fitness journey

Last year, fitness magazine Men’s Health reported Henry Cavill having shared his fitness routine with fans. The actor posted on Instagram saying:

“Jiu-Jitsu has a way of kicking your arse and making you love it for the lessons you learned.” 

After wrapping up his shoot, the actor felt good to be back on the mats and doing Jiu-Jitsu. Cavill compared the martial arts to mother nature or big brother whom people annoy, resulting in a grueling but valuable lesson.

Jiu-Jitsu is a self-defense combat sport that consists of grappling, ground fighting, and submission holds. It starts with a warmup of 10 to 15 minutes focusing on footwork, arm pummeling, and sprawls. Then, the next 30 to 40 minutes include practicing techniques and mastering drills.

Finally, the practice ends with randori, or fighting, where opponents use their learned skills on each other. This sport is not just a skill but promotes physical fitness, building character, and as a way of life. Henry Cavill has shared his love for the sport several times on social media as Jiu-Jitsu has helped him a lot in his roles like Superman.
