For those who weren’t keeping up with Hollywood news in 2008, Ryan Reynolds and his marriage with Scarlett Johansson seems like a fever dream. It seems almost as unreal as Deadpool dating Black Widow. Moreover, the fact that the two of them were supremely private about each other. And there being little to three photos (counting the time they were at award shows), their marriage comes as a huge shock. Given the onslaught of healthy relationships that followed in both the actor’s life, it becomes a hard pill to swallow.

But that does not change the fact that the two talented actors were married and deeply in love at that time. After dating for only a year, the couple tied the knot in 2008. But their reunion did not last very long, and they broke things off in 2011. However, unlike most celebrity break ups that end with a huge drama (think KimYe), this one ended differently. Contrary to the likes of their Marvel characters, the two ended it with love.

Why did Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson reunite?

The Black Widow actress was only 23 years old when she got married. But looks like age is not the only factor that makes a person mature. Both Reynolds and Johansson announced their split in 2010, and they were not lying when they said “We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it,” because months later the two actors were seen laughing in each other’s company.

Reynolds, who claimed that he would “never get married” after his divorce from the Marriage Story actress, was spotted with her at the Blue Ribbon restaurant.

This was months after their divorce. According to People, the two happened to be in the same place and at the same time, which led up to a friendly meal. Not all divorces have to end up ugly. But contrary to his statement to Details magazine, Reynolds luckily ended up getting married again.

His marriage with Blake Lively is the cutest and most heartwarming thing on the Internet. The two of them have three beautiful daughters and the couple is currently awaiting their fourth child. On the work front, Reynolds is working on the third installment of his raved-about movie franchise. And to make things even better, it stars his long-time best friend Hugh Jackman.
