What Is David Fincher’s Documentary Film Series “VOIR” on Netflix Going to Be?

NetflixFilm’s tweet on October 12 promised fans something exciting from David Fincher. It read, “Something special is coming tomorrow from David Fincher.” Fans were buzzing and actually busy speculating about this David Fincher and Netflix team-up. Luckily, they had to wait only a day to find out what it all was about.

The David Fincher-Netflix collaboration will give us a brand new documentary series called ‘Voir’. The three-time Oscar-nominated director will join the streaming giant as an executive producer for a docuseries. Although fans may be upset at him not directing the project, they will be excited to watch Voir. And Fincher will certainly be excited at working with Netflix once again.

When talking Variety about working with Netflix, Fincher said, “I’ve never been happier working at a place than I am at Netflix; It’s a nice thing that movies have a place to exist where you don’t necessarily have to shove them into spandex summer or affliction winter.”

As per the announcement made by NetflixFilm’s official account, the new documentary series will be a series of video essays celebrating cinema. The docuseries will premiere at AFI Fest, which goes on between November 10 to November 14. After that, it will make its way to Netflix.

Many people were expecting a new season of ‘Mindhunter’ or a sequel for ‘Mank’. Instead, we will be getting a 10 episode series that celebrates cinema. So, to be honest, it is a win-win situation for us.

What do we know so far?

As of now, we know that David Prior will join David Fincher and Netflix as the director for the project and Drew McWeeny will be working as one of the writers for the show. While not much has been disclosed about the show, writer McWeeny wrote, “VOIR is, simply put, the thing I have been working on for the last few years and the project I am most excited about right now. It is a streaming series for Netflix that is hopefully not like any other show about movies that you’ve seen.”
