Fans can not contain their excitement as Evan Peters brought home the Golden Globe
The 35-year-old star has often played serial killers, but it was only Dahmer that earned him a Golden Globe. He beat out Colin Firth, Andrew Garfield, Taron Egerton, and Sebastian Stan to take the award home. In his acceptance speech, the actor humbly thanked everyone who worked on the project and also credited the ones that helped him on his path.
The Netflix series chronicles the serial murders that took place between 1978 to 1991. Instead of telling the story from the point of view of Dahmer, Ryan chose to give the viewers a different perspective of the events from the eyes of the victims. The series was a success spending a week on the Netflix charts.

Nonetheless, such accolades do not come easy to anyone. Evan Peters had reportedly given his all in preparation for the role. He emulated Dahmer’s gait and charisma, his wardrobe as well as speech mannerisms. He stayed ridiculously loyal to his on-screen character for months until the crew was done wrapping the film. Although his efforts paid off, they took a toll on him. He was emotionally exhausted and wanted to get over it so that he could go back to the “light“.

Even though Netflix renewed the show for two and three seasons, it is unlikely that Peters will return to his dark alter ego any soon. “I’m going to take a little break from darker roles and explore the light,” he said in an interview with Variety. The digital streaming site is taking the anthology route with the series which will feature a different serial killer each season.
