EXCLUSIVE: “We filmed literally in a van”: Dan Cade Reveals the Lengths the Emmy Award Winning Show ‘Atlantic Crossing’ Production Went to Film the World War 2-Based Show
Netflix’s newest vampire hunter, Dan Cade, is slowly becoming the talk of the town owing to the choice of his projects. The British actor had notable roles in films like The Family, alongside legends like Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeiffer, and the remake of Papillon with Charlie Hunnam and Rami Malek. One of his most memorable performances, though, is from the PBS International Emmy Award-winning miniseries, Atlantic Crossing.
Dan Cade has worked tirelessly to bring both fiction (Van Helsing) and reality to life with his work. While the former gives one the liberty of picking the favored settings, the latter is something that presents itself as a fixed mold, and now you have to squeeze yourself into it. And funnily enough, the makers of Atlantic Crossing makers had to do exactly that. Let’s find out how Cade fared in the World War 2 setting of this film.

Cade expressed his appreciation for the show, including the “great filmmakers, great story” and especially the “impressive production.” With his role centered around the “Pearl Harbor warning,” Cade spoke about the filming process. Shot in Prague, he describes the “brilliant” and “really authentic” aesthetic that the production team achieved. “We filmed literally in a van with this equipment that was used to try to notify the US OPS,” said the actor.
Atlantic Crossing focuses on the equations between US President Frank Roosevelt (FDR), played by Kyle MacLachlan, and Crown Princess Martha of Norway, portrayed by Sofia Helin. Set in 1940, against the backdrop of World War 2, it revolves around the period when Martha takes refuge in the US after escaping Norway during the Nazi Invasion. Dan Cade appears as a US soldier in episode 6 of the series titled The Giant Awakes.
