Was Sandra Bullock’s ‘The Proposal’ the Reason Ryan Reynolds Did Not Make It to Wolverine ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’?

Ryan Reynolds is famous for a lot of things. For instance, fans love him for his sense of humor, his brilliant acting, and his great business sense. Recently, the actor sold his Mint Mobile stakes and earned a handsome amount of money. However, there is one more thing that has become a synonym for the actor and that is his character, Deadpool. But did you know, the original Deadpool that appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine was not the Canadian actor?

In his interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Scott Adkins revealed the reason the 46-year-old actor could not be in the X-Men movie. When they were shooting X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Reynolds was busy shooting The Proposal with Sandra Bullock. The Proposal is a rom-com where Reynolds is an assistant to Bullock. While lingering in the hateful relationship, they do not realize when they fell for each other.

Well, therefore, Adkins played the character of the original Deadpool, which was Weapon XI. Thus, because of the scheduling issues, the now father of four could not be in the fight with Wolverine. The fight scene with Wolverine had Adkins really worked up. Although Jackman could remember the choreography easily, they had to portray the odd fight between the two. He also opened up about the scene and added how painful it was.

While it was supposed to be the Red Notice actor, Adkins played the painful part. Why was it so painful for him to be in the fight with Wolverine?

How did Scott Adkins manage the pain instead of Ryan Reynolds?

Because Weapon XI was an experimental mutant, he had the blade in his fist. Therefore, each time when he made a move, it hurt the fist. Every time when Adkins swung the blade, it dug into his knuckles, only to dig the other way when he stopped. But he had to go on to make the fight effective.

He also praised The Son actor for his ability to remember the fight choreography because of his musical theater background. He enjoyed working with the Logan actor, as he admitted during the interview. While he opened up about the pain of getting killed, he also expressed his wish to come back in Deadpool 3.
