Warner Bros. Did Not Want Henry Cavill to Return as Superman, Confirms Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Viewers were first introduced to Henry Cavill as Superman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel in 2013. The superhero film turned out to be a big hit and grossed about $700 million. People loved the exhilarating action and the handsome Henry Cavill trying to protect the people of earth. After the first adaptation, the actor has been seen in many DC movies.

As we last saw him donning a brand-new suit in black shade in 2021 Justice League. The Witcher star is once again ready for some action in the antihero movie Black Adam starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. However, Warner Bros. did not want Henry Cavill to return as Superman, confirmed the Jungle Cruise star.

Dwayne Johnson revealed Henry Cavill wasn’t going to be a part of Black Adam

In a recent post shared on Twitter, Dwayne Johnson opened up about the casting of Henry Cavill in the upcoming film Black Adam“The Rock saved Superman. We are eternally grateful.” read the caption. In the video, the Rampage star stated that whatever they create is for fans so if they wished for Superman then he needs to be in the movie. 

“It was years. This was six years to get that done. I’m gonna say that again, six years we first started talking about it,” remarked Johnson. Moreover, he added that Warner Bros had no plan to cast him, and “they kept saying no” to him.

But he convinced the creators to bring the Superman angle into the movie for sure. Therefore, the 50-year-old actor had a big hand in the return of Superman aka Henry Cavill after his last movie.

A potential confrontation is awaiting between two DC characters in Black Adam

In an interview with Cinemablend, The Rock promised fans a crossover of Black Adam and Superman. He said DC Universe is building new things and his character is also new so the perception of fans matters.

“‘This is a new era in the DC Universe,’ is listening to the fans. Listening to the fans. And doing our best to give the fans what they want,” explained the actor. He said that he has been listening to fans and knew what they wanted so they are going to see it now.
