The entertainment industry has many ways of appreciating art and artists. The Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, and then comes the Golden Globe Awards, which is the lavish ceremony. While celebrities enjoyed attending the ceremony, fans also loved watching their favorite actors getting recognition. Although, for the past 2 years, there have been some controversies clouding the event. As a result, many celebrities boycotted the ceremony. This year also, there seem to be issues regarding the ceremony, as Will Smith and Tom Cruise were left out of the list of nominations.

As the Golden Globe will come back for its 80th ceremony on the 10th of January, 2023, the function will see a lot of missing entities. In 2022, Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick was one of the biggest films of the year. It also received 2 nominations: one for Best Motion Picture, Drama, and the second one for Best Original Song. However, the actors didn’t receive any recognition that everyone expected. The same thing happened with the Emancipation film and the star.

The Oscar-winner actor didn’t get the recognition, nor did the crew. This might suggest the difficulties the film might face to get the deserved recognition at the Academy Awards as well. Does this mean the Men in Black actor wouldn’t attend the ceremony at all (not that he could anyway given his 10-year-long ban)? Not only Will Smith but also it is anticipated Tom Cruise might also ditch the ceremony.

Previously, Tom Cruise gave back the 3 Golden Globe Awards to oppose the HFPA controversy. It was noticed the HFPA didn’t have any voters of color, nor did it have diversity in the management. Therefore, to raise his voice against this difference, Cruise returned his previously won awards. After he took the action, the NCB declined to air the show on television. Well, this year also the ceremony will be held without the audience, without the red carpet, and without a host.
