She recently appeared in a Netflix movie titled The Mother with co-stars, Lucy Paez, who plays the role of Lopez’s daughter in the movie. The 53-year-old actress spilled the beans about why her co-star was the perfect cast for the role.

Directed by Niki Caro, The Mother is an American action thriller film starring Lopez with Joseph Fiennes, Paul Raci, Omari Hardwick, and Gael García Bernal. As their film landed on the streaming giant, the on-screen mother-daughter duo appeared in Tudum’s interview. They shared how they felt when they met for the first time during the audition. During their first reading, Lopez found Paez was the perfect cast for the role of the daughter. Which moment was it?

As the singer revealed, Paez was one of her favorites when she walked in. Therefore, she decided to read with her. There was a scene in the film where Paez holds up a gun in front of her. As Paez held the gun during the audition, Lopez snatched the gun with the utmost force. Now, this was the moment when Lopez decided, “This little one can handle this,” because despite being disturbed, Paez did not leave the character.

And thus, these two connected with each other and had so much fun while shooting the film together. Although Lucy Paez was not as confident as she seemed in the film when she first met her on-screen mother.
