“This is a monumental time” – Grammy Nominated Haiti Singer Mickael Marabou Gives a Shoutout to Will Smith’s Emancipation for a Great Cause
After a hiatus of eight months, Oscar-winning actor Will Smith has made a comeback to the movies with Emancipation. The film showcases Smith in a completely different and unrecognizable avatar as the actor tries to overshadow the mayhem caused by the infamous slapgate scandal. Based on the real-life story of Gordon aka Whipped Peter, the film touches on the sensitive topic of slavery.
Set in the 1860s, the historical drama did not receive great reviews from critics. While Will Smith was showered with praise for his dedication to the role, people believe that the film failed to do justice to the true story of Whipped Peter. Critics also took offense to Robert Richardson’s spiritless cinematography and screenplay. Amidst all the mixed reviews, Will Smith has received a big shout-out from Mickael Marabou.
