This Brad Pitt Zombie Movie Is Currently Dominating the Netflix Charts
Brad Pitt has given his audience several blockbusters over the years. From romantic dramas to crime thrillers, the Hollywood legend has always shined. However, many forget that he also has a hit zombie thriller in his filmography. Nobody can deny that the undead creatures are truly fascinating. And they make for some amazing narratives and hence have remained a pop culture phenomenon. Pitt, recognizing the potential in these undead creatures, produced a survival thriller in 2013 that earned some big bucks at the theaters. And Netflix has just brought it back from oblivion!
Netflix tends to bring a mix of new and old titles every few months. Recently the streamer brought back Brad Pitt starrer zombie flick World War Z to its platform. And it’s already trending on the top ten charts, according to Giant Freakin Robot. The movie is based on Max Brooks’ novel of the same name. The movie follows Pitt’s character Gerry Lane, who is a United Nations investigator. When an unknown virus turns humans into brain-eating zombies, Garry has no choice but to lead a military team in search of a cure. This takes him down a treacherous path through some zombie-swarmed regions.

The 2013 flick is an action-packed thrill ride with Pitt pulling most of the action scenes effortlessly. At the time of release, the film garnered around $540 million at the box office. It was labeled a blockbuster and even set a record for the second-biggest opening that year after Monsters University.
Apart from the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor headlining the project, Daniella Kertesz, Mireille Enos, and James Badge Dale also starred alongside him. Pitt didn’t just attach his name to the project as the lead, but he was also involved behind the scenes. He produced the film through his Plan B Entertainment. Despite the big numbers on the sheet, there is still no news about a sequel.

Will we see Brad Pitt as Gerry Lane again in a sequel to the 2013 flick?
A sequel was announced immediately after the release of the film. But then director J. A Bayona left the project. Eventually, David Fincher took over. However, Paramount shelved the film in 2019, rejecting the $200 million budget proposal from Fincher.

Additionally, China’s ban on zombie films further hampered the film’s prospects. While its fate is up in the air, Pitt is busy filming Wolves with George Clooney.
