Everyone is just so excited about The Witcher season 2 right now and their patience is literally hanging on a string. Even the littlest update about the show is enough to make us scream like a striga kept outside her coffin. So when a new promo clip for The Witcher season 2 made it to the internet, the world went crazy. We surely saw a new monster in the video, but we also probably saw what appears to be a new weapon in Geralt’s arsenal.

The Witcher Promo: Arrival of the Myriapod

Netflix released a new promo clip for The Witcher season 2. The clip introduced us to a very scary-looking monster that looked like a centipede on steroids. We see Geralt fighting this creature with a Quen sign and glowing sword, which probably is one of the new weapons that we will see Geralt use in this new season of the show.

It is still pretty unclear if the sword is just heated or it is actually a blade enchanted with glyphs. Well, whatever it is, we are surely in for a treat, as we will get to see the Butcher of Blaviken take on monsters throughout the second season.

The insectoid creature may be new to TV show fans, but gamers and readers will easily recognize this multi-legged creature. It has made an abundance of appearances in CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt; while, in Andrzej Sapkowski’s Sword of Destiny, the monster appears at a rather important time.

The Myriapod first appeared in the Forest of Brokilon during the first meeting of Geralt and Ciri. Netflix can very well incorporate some elements from that storyline in the show.

More Monsters in the new season of The Witcher

While Myriapod looks as dangerous as ever, it is not the only monster we will see in this season of the Netflix Original. The trailer and the clips of season 2 have hinted at the presence of other monsters as well, including a bruxa, a leshen, and the cursed creature named Nivellen.

The showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has mentioned that this season will feature more monsters than Blood of the Elves. “Blood of Elves lacks monsters,” Hissrich said. “There’s just not very many. But we know from the games that people really like to see Geralt battling monsters, so we continued adding more monsters to Season 2.”

While there are definitely going to be a plethora of monsters, our White Wolf needs some backup, too. Geralt will have all the help he requires, as the Wolf Pack of Kaer Morhen will feature in the show this season.
