Netflix released The Witcher on 20th December 2020, and fans enjoyed it to the fullest. Given the anticipation, fans were excited about season 2, and now, the novel-based adaptation is back on Netflix for a second season starting from 17th December.

The Witcher season 2 is one of the most anticipated series of the year. Twitter erupted when the fans of the fantasy-drama series, The Witcher, saw the destiny posters for the characters released by Netflix. The three posters released on consecutive days starting 13th October featured Ciri, Yennefer, and Geralt.

Freya Allan portrays Ciri, the princess of Cintra, who has been on the run for the entire first season because Nilfgaard tries to capture her. The poster showed Ciri holding a left-blade short sword with both hands in a battle-ready pose.

Ciri, being the sole princess, can’t run anymore and has to fight to survive. In the trailer, we see Ciri preparing to be a Witcher as Kim Bodnia, Geralt’s mentor, trains her. Fans were even worried about Ciri training on the pendulum.

Destined to survive

Anya Chalotra plays Yennefer on-screen, a sorceress from Vengerberg, the capital city of Aedirn. Tissaia de Vries recruits her and brings her to Aretuza to teach her magic. The on-screen chemistry of Henry and Anya is the talking point of the series, and many people even call them couple goals.

Yennefer has mixed feelings for Geralt after their difference of opinion on having kids. She is on her quest to improve her magic because she wants to become fertile again.

Destined to protect

Geralt, a mutated monster-hunter, played by Henry Cavill, is the lead character of the series. The Law of Surprise bound Geralt to protect Ciri, the sole princess, but during the attack on Cintra, Ciri flees alone while Geralt is in a prison.

Although Geralt is a Witcher, he acts more like a human than anyone else in the series. Things got complicated for Geralt at the end of the season because Ciri asked him about Yennefer.

The Witcher season 2 will continue from where it left, and fans can hope for new monsters, amazing fight scenes, and lots of “Hmmm” from Geralt.
