The Witcher Season 3 has begun production, with Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, and Freya Allan all returning for more dark magic and betrayal.

The streamer uploaded a shot from The Witcher‘s third season set in the snow, with three of the key cast members dressed up and ready for the new chapter to begin filming. Season 3 is based on author Andrzej Sapkowski‘s second novel in The Witcher narrative. So season 3 will focus on the growing conflict between the Northern Kingdoms and Nilfgaard.

With the first look at the trio, Netflix has also announced an official synopsis for the show. To give you a gist of the synopsis, in season 3, Geralt and Ciri take shelter in the fortress of Aretuza, thanks to Yennefer.

Yennefer wishes to help Ciri with her powers and be away from all trouble. But it looks like trouble is looking for them.

We also have new directors on board for the show as well. The Witcher always includes great visionary directors to helm the season. And Netflix has chosen veteran directors, Stephen surjik (Reacher, The Umbrella Academy) Gandja Monteiro (Brand New Cherry Flavor, The Chi), Loni Peristere (American Horror Story, A Series of Unfortunate Events), and Bola Ogun (Raising Dion, Lucifer) to lead the third season of the show.
