The buzz around Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story on Netflix is not dying anytime soon. The series takes into account the life of the dreaded American serial killer who earned himself the names Milwaukee Cannibal and Milwaukee Monster for the ferocious deeds that he committed. Jeffrey Dahmer was out killing freely for more than a decade. While you let that sink in, we would like to tell you more about the victim in the second episode of the series. The episode explores the story of Konerak Sinthasomphone.

The tragedy of Konerak Sinthasomphone

The second episode of the series follows how Konerak Sinthasomphone died. As shown in the Netflix series, on the 27th of May in 1991, Jeffrey Dahmer took home a 14-year-old boy with the pretext of giving money in exchange for a nude photoshoot. Sinthasomphone agrees and goes to the death hut that is Dahmer’s apartment.

At first, Dahmer drugs him and then proceeds to beat him up and take photos of his nude, cold body. Don’t grit your teeth just yet, because what happens next will make you want to punch your screens. Leaving an unconscious Konerak in his apartment, the killer goes to get some beer. The 14-year-old boy in the meantime regains barely enough consciousness to escape.

In the Netflix documentary, he is found by three women, one of them being Glenda Cleaveland, the next-door neighbor. However, in real-time, Konerak Sinthasomphone was found by Sandra Smith and Nicole Childress, who called the police. The 14-year-old was naked, heavily-drugged, and even bleeding when the two police officers, John Balcerzak and Joseph Gabrish, arrived at the scene.

Since Sinthasomphone was leaning on Dahmer and not trying to run away given his drugged state, the police were calm from the get-go. Dahmer’s easy answers put them even more at ease. He even told them that Sinthasomphone was nineteen. A third police officer, Richard Porubcan, joined them. And they escorted back a physically and mentally vulnerable Konerak to his murderer’s apartment.

Dahmer later confessed to killing his 13th victim Konerak Sinthasomphonem half an hour after the police left. There are two facts that make this tragedy even more painful than it already is. One, had the police checked his apartment at that time, they would have found a body. Two, Sinthasomphone had a brother named Somsack Sinthasomphone. Three years earlier, in 1998, akin to how he lured Konerak, Dahmer also lured Somsack. He then drugged him and sexually harassed him.

Jeffrey Dahmer, the Milwaukee Monster, committed the murder of Konerak Sinthasomphone, while he was released on probation for molesting his brother. You can check out the series on Netflix.
