During the Summer of 2007, news about an NBA fix-up broke up. News media, sports fans and everyone involved in the NBA were equally shaken. The FBI got involved and opened an investigation, but what no one knew was they had actually opened up a can of worms. The suspect? A referee. The accusation? Fixing his own game.

Tim Donaghy, the NBA referee was at the center of it all. The referee-gone-rouge is said to have been fixing games for 11 long years, becoming a primary suspect of both the NBA and the FBI. During the investigation, it was found that Tim was involved in match settings, that too of his own games. The investigation ultimately led to his arrest wherein he spent 15 months in the FBI prison But it wasn’t going to be as simple as one name. The documentary will take you on the trip from the small-time bookies of the city to the mobsters of New York.
Netflix’s Untold: Operation Flagrant Foul is set to reveal it all. For the first time ever, Donaghy will speak out directly, along with his lawyer John Lauro and co-conspirators Tommy Martino, and Jimmy “The Sheep” Battista. Joining them will be former FBI Agents and Donaghy’s ex-wife Kim Strupp Donaghy. The documentary was released on 30th August 2022 and is available to stream on Netflix now.
