Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle always have been the prime target of criticism and backlashes, the Queen never refrained from her duties as the senior family member of the Windsors. Despite strained ties with her own grandson and granddaughter-in-law, the Queen was in good relations with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

Royal biographer and longtime friend, Gyles Brandreth, writes in her book praising the Queen’s hospitality for her relatives. In a biography entitled ‘Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait’, the writer opened up about the relationship between the Sovereign and the Duchess’s mother. The late Queen had seemingly felt sorry about the “fractured” Markle family. She had a great fondness for Markle’s mother, who now works as an activist and a yoga teacher. 

The Daily Mail brought the particular excerpt to our notice. Prior to this, the world watched King Charles, who walked Meghan Markle down the aisle at the latter’s wedding. All of it is owing to Markle’s disturbed family that has caused great agony to her and the royals. Doria Ragland and her father, Thomas Markle, split in the late 1980s, leaving young Meghan all by herself with her mother. Ever since, Ragland had been her rock until she tied the knot with Prince Harry and gained a whole new family.

However, the happiness with a new lineage was short-lived. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry soon had to suffer some unexpected objections. After having had enough, the couple gave up on their UK sovereigns. They shifted to their California estate in the USA. However, their ties with Markle’s mother have never been weakened whatsoever.
