The Last Kingdom season 5 Ending Explained
The Last Kingdom is a historical epic show from Netflix that raised to popularity after getting compliments for being a perfect mixture of Vikings and Game of Thrones. The show was created by Stephen Butchard based on the novel series Saxon Stories. Now that the show’s last season has aired, we have some questions about what happened in the last episode.
All hope appears to be lost in the last episode. But Uhtred and his companions are able to flee Bebbanburg. He tracks Stiorra and urges his daughter to join the Saxon cause with his Danish warriors. Stiorra and his followers agree and assault the Scots from behind. In a panic, Constantine orders his soldiers to set fire to Bebbanburg.
To confront Wihtgar, Uhtred rushes to Bebbanburg. Aelfeard then threatens Athelstan, who confesses that the wicked Elder schemes to blame for Aelfeard’s mother’s death. When Athelstan chooses to leave him alive, Aelfeard abandons his grandpa, who decides to commit himself. Uhtred and Wihtgar fight in the dark, and our hero effortlessly dispatches his wicked cousin by tossing him from a balcony.
Uhtred finally reclaims his birthright and deals with Constantine, who then flees. Our protagonist gets reunited with his family. Hild, by the way, is rushing to Babbenburg with a youngster called Osbert.
Who is Osbert’s father?
Osbert’s father is Uhtred. Gisela, Uhtred’s wife, had a long time ago given birth to Osbert. Because the church adopted him, he was spared from most of his family’s misadventures. Young Uhtred and Stiorra have a sibling named Osbert. Uhtred discloses to Constantine that he vowed to keep Northumbria as a buffer zone between England and Scotland until a monarch worthy of unifying England appeared.
We are given a final cut at the end of Season 5 of The Last Kingdom, in which Uhtred acknowledges himself as Uhtred, son of Uhtred.
