Fans of Peaky Blinders will be happy to hear that a spin-off film of the show is coming on the screens, as confirmed by the creator of Steven Knight. The film will be based on the entire series, where the lead characters will be Thomas Shelby and Arthur Shelby. But other characters are still unknown and not confirmed by the creator.

The last season has so far introduced a fresh batch of young men, and a new story. And Knight has hinted that the upcoming film will find its pillars in these new characters. So, let’s see what he is offering us with this new film.

The upcoming Peaky Blinders movie

The final season, aka season 6 of Peaky Blinders, will help the creator set up the direction and stage for the upcoming film. Season 6 is currently airing on BBC, and eventually, Netflix will launch the show in June. According to Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne the show is culturally and historically relevant. The last season will bring out the darkness of Tommy Shelby, our hero. Before he gets fully drowned in the darkness, Shelby has to get out. And there’s comes the new film, which will feature the future of Shelby.

Director of Peaky Blinders, Anthony Byrne, had previously said that it’s time to welcome a new story with new characters. “Steve wants to do a spin-off show featuring younger Peakies who we might see potentially coming to London and causing havoc and maybe getting involved with other gangs,” said the director.

We still don’t know if such a spin-off will become reality in the future. Meanwhile the film is very much a reality, for which the creators are still looking for new characters.

Still looking for the right actors

In a conversation with Esquire, Steven Knight confesses that he and his team are still looking out for the actors, “that you just watch and you think, there you go. There’s the future.”

Unfortunately, Steven Knight cannot give us any details about the plot or the setting of the film. Or how the story will unfold. This is not because he wished to maintain the suspense but more because nothing is fixed yet. “How the story will unfold, I don’t know. What will happen after that, I want that to depend on the film” he said.

However, this doesn’t mean the Peaky Blinders creator doesn’t know where the film is headed. He knows
“exactly what it’s about.” He also knows what two stories the film will tell. Well, that certainly leaves us more eager for the film. However, we once trusted in the genius of this writer with Peaky Blinders, the future of which even couldn’t predict. Looks like, we have no choice but to do the same with the film.
