‘The Chosen One’: A Peek into The Plot, Case, and Nit Bits About American Jesus Inspired Netflix Original Coming Soon
While DC and Marvel race to compete with each other, Netflix began a league of its own with the Millarworld. Now, the good thing about comic books is the fact they give a billion possibilities and scope to explore their fantasy world. Being able to garner a massive fan base for it is only a plus. With a couple of fantasy shows already out, the OTT giant is in the process of bringing out another one.
Netflix acquired the Millarworld, written by Mark Millar, who also wrote The Authority for Marvel comics before writing for many such projects. Now, his American Jesus comic will make its landing on Netflix under The Chose One title.

What we can expect of Netflix’s The Chosen One
We first got a glimpse of The Chosen One during the Netflix Tudum event back in September 2022. Millar appeared in the video talking about his work and what can be expected of his comics. As per WhatsOnNetlfix, American Jesus was already under Netflix since 2017, but Millar gave an update about the show. Brothers Everardo Gout and Leopoldo Gout will co-run the show and the former will double down as a director. His experience in such a genre comes from having directed Luke Cage previously.
Since Glee actress Dianna Agron and Wakanda Forever actor Tenoch Huerta were the once to present the show during Tudum, they are confirmed to be a part of the cast. It also means we can expect dialogues in English as well as Spanish. Locations of the movie shoot are supposedly at a farther distance from Mexico and are reportedly going well so far.
With an interesting name like American Jesus, it may leave one wondering what the plot could be about. Here is a small glimpse into the Millarworld creation.

What is the plot behind this Millarworld comic?
American Jesus focuses on the life of a 12-year-old boy who goes through a severe accident. But that results in him returning as Jesus Christ in the modern world. He can undo something, fix a crippled, make the wine appear from thin air, but how does one cope with the reality of being a God? That is a challenge that the young boy Jodie is faced with. Being in the supporting character is his mother Sarah, who will protect him through thick and thin on this rollercoaster ride. A confirmed release date for the show is yet to be announced.
So far we got Super Crooks and Jupiter’s Legacy, which was cancelled by Netflix, of the Millarworld performing decently. It will be seen how the American Jesus captures the audience.
