The Texas Chainsaw Massacre installments have always scared the living daylights out of audiences. And the most recent one is no exception, being equally gory and spine-chilling. However, being a direct sequel to the 1974 movie, the Netflix flick has included similarly gory, terrifying details in it. Texas Chainsaw Massacre on Netflix is nearly a trip down memory lane

Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, directed by David Blue Garcia functions as a straight sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original film. From the very first scene to the very last, it offers fans of the franchise multiple throwbacks to the film that started it all. The film reintroduces familiar characters while also introducing new ones who are waiting to be slaughtered by Leatherface, played by Mark Burnham.

Leatherface reappears after a fifty-year absence, terrorising a group of friends who had unintentionally entered his territory. Melody (Sarah Yarkin) and Lila (Elsie Fisher), as well as their pals Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), all face Leatherface at one point or another, with most of them dying.

They did not know that their path ahead would be paved with blood. What’s also interesting is that the movie ends on a similar note to the original flick. While Sally escapes from the clutches of Leatherface in Tobe Hooper’s movie, in the Netflix movie, Lila survives. This could mean that we will have a sequel with Lila vying for revenge.

Mid credit scene explained

When the audience thought they’d seen the last of Leatherface, they fashioned a mid-credit scene, similar to what popular franchise Marvel does for its films. They show Leatherface strolling along a secluded back road, chainsaw in hand. Approaching an ancient house, which could be a signal for another Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. The ruined house seems eerily similar to the one where Sally’s group of friends met their fate in the 1974 movie. This suggests that Leatherface might well be back to his roots in the upcoming sequel.

The main four characters move to Harlow, Texas, a ghost town, hoping to escape big-city crime and profiting from the sale of abandoned homes. When they arrive at the destination and enter their property, which they intend to remodel soon, it shocked them to discover that an old woman occupies it.

The stress of leaving her home at such an age is too much for the elderly lady, and she succumbs to a heart attack shortly after. Then her son, Leatherface, resolves to avenge himself by going on a rampage. Meanwhile, Sally Hardesty is on the lookout for Leatherface to exact revenge on the death of her family and friends in the original film.
