The split with Kanye West has cost Adidas big time. There was a time when people would queue up outside the store to buy Yeezy’s. He collaborated with Adidas back in 2016, becoming one of the few non-sports celebrities to have a successful sports line. The brand was estimated to be worth approximately $1.5 billion.

While the business aspect was running smoothly, it was Ye’s controversies that eventually caught up with not only Adidas but other brands associated with him. While the split seemed inevitable, taking a stand against the artist is costing the brand $530 million. How do they plan to make up for the money now?

Adidas plans to sell Yeezy products worth $500 million after Kanye West split

While Adidas had no option but to cut ties with West, there is a question as to what the brand will do now. As per Business Insider, they are left with Yeezy products worth $530 million. While the brand may not make up for all the money, the sports brand is now gearing up to sell as many Yeezy products as possible. Then again, they are not the only ones suffering due to the split. It is estimated that $1.5 billion of Ye’s wealth came from his collaboration with Adidas, and very quickly, he lost his billionaire status. After all, Yeezy accounted for 7%, i.e., $1.8 billion of the brand’s sales this year.

It all began with the Gold Digger singer’s much-criticized anti-Semitic views. The “Deathcon 3 to Jewish people” just marked the beginning of Ye’s comments. He not only dodged apologizing for his mistakes but also continued his rhetoric by beginning to praise Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. Being a German-born brand, this is where Adidas decided to take a stand and end its money-minting partnership with Ye.
