One of the greatest wonders to come from DC in the past decades has been the Keanu Reeves starrer, Constantine. A movie so engaging that one wonders what the root of the magic is. Is it Keanu Reeves being the perfect John Constantine that one could ask for? Or is it the smooth direction of Francis Lawrence? Whatever the case may have been, the movie had a huge impact on the viewers. But also on the man playing John Constantine himself.

Keanu Reeves, despite amassing a global fanbase, has been knocking on the doors time and again for a Constantine sequel. And after the proverbial mass firing of the DC actors, especially those from the Synderverse, the future of a Constantine sequel looked as good as invisible. However, after decades of hanging on by a thin thread, the Constantine sequel has still not been scraped.

Is Keanu Reeves returning as John Constantine?

James Gunn and Peter Safran, after bearing the heat for most of last year, released the upcoming DC projects that fans can look forward to. And the list curated by them has some of the most promising entities of DC such as The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and more. While these are all amazing projects, Gunn’s announcement had no updates of a Constantine sequel, making fans lose all hope of seeing Reeves in his bad-boy avatar again.

However, a Warner Bros. spokesperson has revealed to EW, that the project has yet to be trashed. This is great news for the highly devoted Constantine fans because it means that Keanu Reeves is likely to recreate his magic and manipulation master with Francis Lawrence.

The 2005 movie was also directed by Lawrence and surpassed the hundred million milestone at the box office in no time. Making a sequel, especially when Reeves is at his peak, is a step in the right direction.

However, since the project was not announced as a part of the upcoming DC slate, it is unclear when it is going to release. Furthermore, fans have yet to forget what happened with Henry Cavill. And cannot help but draw parallels between him and Reeves. Hopefully, that is not the case.
