Steven Spielberg recently sat down with the RRR director SS Rajamouli for a conversation about films. It is here that he opened up about the time when he was offered to direct the first film of Harry Potter. During the conversation, he stated that he declined the offer to spend some quality time with his wife and kids. “So I’d sacrificed a great franchise, which today looking back I’m very happy to have done, to be with my family,” explained Spielberg in an interview with Rajamouli.
According to him, he was already established as a director at that time and wanted to focus on his family. Whereas if he chose to work on the film, he might have spent months away from his kids in another country.
Therefore, he made this decision for the happiness of his family and the opportunity was passed to Chris Columbus. Meanwhile, with the news circulating on the internet, fans are making merry saying it was for better he didn’t do it.
