With the Academy Awards coming back soon, people have started sharing their excitement. And amidst this festive vibe, someone has whispered the name of the most genius fantasy created in Hollywood. The celebrated director Steven Spielberg, who has been an Oscar legacy for decades, recently revealed the reason behind turning down Harry Potter.
Dwelling on those years of struggles, the director touched on the topic of how he chose family over his career.
Steven Spielberg does not regret the loss of the Harry Potter franchise
Steven Spielberg recently sat down with the RRR director SS Rajamouli for a conversation about films. It is here that he opened up about the time when he was offered to direct the first film of Harry Potter. During the conversation, he stated that he declined the offer to spend some quality time with his wife and kids. “So I’d sacrificed a great franchise, which today looking back I’m very happy to have done, to be with my family,” explained Spielberg in an interview with Rajamouli.
According to him, he was already established as a director at that time and wanted to focus on his family. Whereas if he chose to work on the film, he might have spent months away from his kids in another country.

I think Chris Columbus did a wonderful job with the first film, so no complaints here. Spielberg is incredible, but I am happy it turned out how it did.
