“Staying loyal to…” – Henry Cavill Gave One Major Condition to Be a Part of ‘The Witcher’ for 7 Seasons

Apart from being an incredible actor, Henry Cavill is also a hardcore fan of fantasy novels and video games. And this love for nerd culture came in handy when he landed the role of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. Unfortunately, the British actor had to bid farewell to this fan-favorite character just when the show started building the main frame of this intriguing storyline. At this time, several theories and speculations are floating on the internet about his exit.

Well, you might have many things on your mind since some people say he was fired. While others feel he was exhausted from traveling and long shoots. Alas! The director has replaced this handsome witcher with Liam Hemsworth starting from season 4. But did you know that the Man of Steel star was initially onboard for seven seasons to play the monster slayer? So what went wrong? What was the major condition that Cavill put forth to continue his journey on the show?

Henry Cavill put forth this specific condition to do 7 seasons of The Witcher

According to Fandom Wire, Henry Cavill previously revealed that he would have played Geralt much longer if the creators agreed to one condition. Long before the release of The Witcher, director Lauren Hissrich planned seven seasons for the show. And the 39-year-old star was also onboard to continue his role because he has always loved the original story based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels.

So he put forth his views and asked the showrunner to keep the story connected to the origin. According to the actor, it was important to follow a real storyline that will honor the writer’s work.

“I’m a huge fan of the books and staying loyal to them, and it’s about making sure that story happens without too much in the way of diversions or side things going on to muddy the waters,” explained the Enola Holmes 2 star.

However, things took an opposite turn to what the Immortals star wished, and he axed himself from the iconic show. Fans will see Henry Cavill in his witcher costume for the last time in the upcoming season 3. Also, the show has been renewed for more seasons where the Hunger Games alum will take the rein of the character in his hands. Therefore, people who have been wondering why the actor left the show should know that he was worn out from the creative clashes and didn’t like the unfaithfulness towards the source material.
