While the entire world celebrated the new year by partying, there was a set of people who stayed in and binged the new British drama series Stay Close on Netflix. Everyone who did that came out a winner because that series is absolutely amazing! So much so that people are now craving for another season. But is it going to happen? Will there be a Stay Close Season 2? And if yes, how can the story continue? Let’s find out.

Stay Close ending leaves open ends

The way this miniseries ended has left viewers hoping for more, even though it was clear that this will be the end of the series. Usually, you expect the end of a show to provide proper ends and closures for its main characters, but the last-minute shock in Stay Close Season 1 left us questioning the future of the three main characters of the show.

This is one of the major reasons everyone expects that Netflix to make Stay Close Season 2. Currently, there is no official announcement, neither from the streaming giants nor from the creators of the show. But we are hopeful. Even though the other projects involving Coben ended as miniseries only, we hope Netflix somehow convinces him to write another book for this.

They could even look to Big Little Lies and take the story further as the HBO show did; despite there being no second novel.

Will Netflix produce Stay Close Season 2?

Until now, there is no official announcement for the second season of Stay Close. However, when talking about the possibility of it, Richard Armitage told RadioTimes.com that the last twist in the series finale leaves a “tiny little door open” for another season.

He added: “It’s such a brilliant twist and one of the things that I like about it is the fact that you don’t really see what he’s done. You just know that there was somebody in the boot of that car. You don’t see him in the car, you don’t actually see the thing happen; it’s all in the viewer’s imagination. And of course, he doesn’t know what he’s done either, which I think is another brilliant opener for maybe Stay Close 2 – who knows?”

Bethany Antonia, his co-star, also agrees that there is an opportunity to have another season of the show; but she believes that there has to be a time jump to have that season. “I think that it will come back to haunt them, but in a long time. It will be Kayleigh’s wedding when she’s like 35, and then she’ll see a yellow car and it will bring back all the memories.”
