‘Squid Game’ Actors Lee Jung-jae and HoYeon Jung Meet Hollywood Legends at AFI Luncheon

The annual AFI luncheon honors the Top 10 show that makes the list. This year, the luncheon was held at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, California on Friday the 11th March. Shows like The White Lotus and HBO’s hit Succession were all invited. And yes, you guessed it right Netflix’s hit Korean show Squid Game was invited as well!

Squid Game stars have meet and greet with A-listers

Representing the show were, the now extremely popular actors, Lee Jung-jae and HoYeon Jung. Jung-jae plays Seong Gi-hun and HoYeon plays Kang Sae-byeok in Netflix’s Squid Game.

Naturally, they weren’t the only stars present at the event. The event was a star-studded one with A-List actors such as Sarah Snook, Jeremy Strong, and Kate Winslet among others attending. And it looks like some of them were fellow Squid Game fans.

At the event, Andrew Garfield and Marget Qualley were seen clicking pictures and sharing a laugh with Lee Jung-jae and HoYeon Jung.

Not only that HoYeon Jung later clicked a picture with Hollywood legend and Academy Awards winner Meryl Streep. Netflix on their official Twitter handle posted a pic of the duo with the caption “Legends only!”

Awards won by the show

Squid Game was not just a commercial success blowing streaming charts all around the world, but it was a critical success too. Critics and fans worldwide love the show’s theme, originality in concept, and the great ensemble of actors.

So when the award season arrives people were sure that Squid Game will go home big. And that is what happened.

The show won three awards at the Screen Actors Guild awards, two of them being of lead actor and actress.

The show won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series by Lee Jung-jae and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series by HoYeon Jung.

Apart from two acting awards, the show won Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series for its exceptional stunt choreography.
