‘Shazam’s’ Zachary Levi Has Seemingly Blamed Dwayne Johnson for Sabotaging Both ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ and ‘Black Adam’ With Major Cameos Misses
If you keep a regular follow-up to all the crisp gossip circulating in Hollywood, you might know that The Wrap recently reported about Dwayne Johnson undermining Zachary Levi. The report said that the muscle god turned down a post-credits scene featuring Levi’s character as he wanted to position himself at the center of the DC Universe. He urged the creators to place Henry Cavill instead of the Chuck star. And now it appears that the Shazam! actor is weighing on the matter that The Rock did sabotage actors’ chance at major cameos in both Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam.
Zachary Levi took it on Instagram today to talk about how the former pro wrestler blocked characters from appearing in both films. In the story, he responded to the exclusive report rolled out by The Wrap saying “the truth shall set you free.” Well, it was already known that the Justice Society was going to be cast in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and Black Adam.

If you remember filmmaker David F. Sandberg told The Hollywood Reporter how they had to change things last minute. “There were supposed to be characters from [Black Adam’s] Justice Society, but that fell apart three days before we were going to roll cameras,” he explained.
However, according to the report, Dwayne Johnson declined the idea of bringing these characters on screen as there was going to be a face-off between Levi’s character and his Black Adam. Instead of which viewers saw the Man of Steel star debuting in the post-credits scene of the superhero film.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods premiered in the United States on March 17 and turned out to be a box office bomb worldwide. Till now, the movie has only grossed $66 million on the budget of $110–125 million. Moreover, the movie review scrolled out by Vulture clearly asked fans to forget that the sequel ever happened. “It’s competent, uninspired swill, undone largely by the fact that it’s following up a superior first movie,” wrote the reviewer.
While Roger Ebert stated in their review that despite the strong performance actors gave in the movie, it failed to bring out the essence of the story. “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” might have been better if it were more focused on both Billy and Freddy and their hormonal anxieties,” read the statement. As for the review aggregating website, Rotten Tomatoes has given the film an average rating of 5.8/10.
