John Legend’s recent revelation about this fallout reminds us of the time Shakira opened up about the infamous VMA incident. West had encountered Taylor Swift for the first time at the 2009 VMA Awards, and her first interaction was not so nice. 

Shakira was spaced out when Kanye West ruined Taylor Swift’s speech at the VMAs

In 2009, Taylor Swift won the best music video for her song You Belong To Me. Shakira was on the stage presenting the award to her when all of a sudden, Kanye West jumped on stage. He snatched the mic away from her and instead yelled that Beyonce had the best music video for All The Single Ladies, discrediting poor Taylor. During this entire event, Shakira was spaced out. But when she noticed the crowd’s reactions, she started listening. 

‘I wasn’t paying too much attention,” she told Expose. “The faces were changing and So I started listening and I could not believe my ears. The whole thing was very uncomfortable,” the singer added. 

The Columbian singer further added that everyone felt bad for Taylor and people were even pissed at the YEEZY designer for his comment. Anyway, six years later, Swift would give a clap back to West for ruining her moment. She claimed her moment at the 2015 VMA awards when she won the best video of the year for Bad Blood.

The College Dropout creator is still moping after his ex, Kim Kardashian. He was recently seen at the Burberry show in rhinestone flip-flops and Tabi socks. The Whenever Wherever singer, on the other hand, is facing tax evasion charges.
