‘Rick and Morty’ Manga Is Hunting for Anime Fans’ Aprroval as It Pays Homage to ‘Evangelion’ and ‘Attack on Titan’
Rick and Morty is an adult cartoon, unlike any other. The Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon sitcom got everyone gasping for air as it successfully portrayed the marriage of a bizarre cartoonish storyline with layered characters. Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith managed to gain a cult-like following that most characters could only dream of. Unlike The Simpsons, this sitcom was not for everyone and thrived by carving its own niche, almost mirroring that of the Anime genre. And this caught the attention of many anime lovers who fell in love with the unusual humor of the show giving way to a Rick and Morty manga.
While it is a norm to adapt any successful foreign cinema into a western series or movie, Rick and Morty manages to remain a classic even in this category as it gets adapted into a manga. Making sure the magic of both anime and Netflix animation remains alive, the creators of the upcoming Manga have quite a few spoofs up their sleeves.

As the Adult Swim show’s future faces turbulence owing to Justin Roiland’s controversies, brilliant cartoonists who also happen to be Rick and Morty’s fans have cooked up a mouth-watering manga preview. Ahead of the November premiere, the Manga’s creators teased the fans by releasing a few snippets. While the creative design was a sight for sore eyes, it was the anime references that stole the show. Morty appears to be taking down an army with an Evangelion-esque mechanic of naked Jerry clones parodying not one but two fan favorite animes: Evangelion and Attack on Titans. And Alissa Sallah has more tricks up her sleeves, as revealed by CBR.
Rick and Morty were synonymous with its ludicrous takes on popular cinema and the manga weaves in this element with an anime twist. Owing to the vast sea of fan favorite animes, there will be plenty of references and digs at other iconic animes.
