Bridgerton on Netflix is one show that fans simply cannot get enough of. From the chemistry to the storyline, but most importantly the characters. The period drama was equipped with characters possessing well-rounded personalities. Ironically, no two characters needed each other in order to shine. This was especially true in the case of Queen Charlotte. Although her character was written to be one for comic relief, Golda Rosheuvel’s performance made sure to get fans hooked for more.

With season 3 yet to be released, the Shonda Rhimes-produced period drama has dropped a breathtaking trailer for a prequel centered around Queen Charlotte. This time she is doing a lot more than just interfering in the love life of her subjects. The character takes her name from a queen of Britain, Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, the longest-serving Queen Consort. And the trailer of Queen Charlotte has stirred up just the right amount of political drama and romance to get fans hooked.

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a Brigerton story unlike any other

Netflix and Shonda Rhimes have both tasted success with tried and tested formula of Bridgerton. A few risque scenes, dialogues so dipped in love and grace that they remind you of Shakespeare, and a whole lot of Simon Basset. Therefore,  stepping into a prequel with Queen Charlotte and the helm of affairs was new ground. However, the newly released trailer is proof that the prequel is going to be just as brilliant if not more than the previous season of Bridgerton. It follows a young Queen Charlotte as she navigates through her marriage with King George. Sweet, but also not short of secrets that could break societies.

The younger version of Queen is portrayed by India Ria Amartefio. She plays the role with such finesse that you find yourself drawing parallels to the older ruler. A walkabout with Queen Charlotte has always been interesting and one with a younger version of her will be no different.

When is the prequel releasing?

The prequel following the Queen will presumably release before Bridgerton Season 3 given how it is yet to have an official release date. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will be releasing on the May 4 on Netflix.

Moreover, the trailer hints at the series starting with Charlotte’s marriage to the King, sparing us the anxiety of if they are going to end up together or even finding a worthy suitor.
