Peaky Blinders Season 6 Premiere: The Empire Felt Empty Without the King, Why Cillian Murphy Was Not Present
It feels rather odd when you assemble a kingdom and the king is missing. Well, it was a similar feeling last night in the city of Birmingham when people assembled along with cast members to celebrate Peaky Blinders season 6. Why? Because the central piece to the entire story, Thomas Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, was not present at the venue.
Why did Cillian Murphy miss the premiere of Peaky Blinders season 6?
Before the weekend release of the Peaky Blinders season 6, some of the cast members and creators assembled at the Birmingham city center for an event. Some 300 lucky fans got the opportunity to watch the first episode of the season along with cast members like Finn Cole. While the news oozes happiness at an amazing rate, there was a feeling of sorrow that saddened the fans. Cillian Murphy, who plays the role of Thomas Shelby on the show, could not attend the premiere and the red carpet event.

Well, the news of Cillian missing the Peaky Blinders premiere came as a piece of gloomy news for the fans. However, when the reason for the absence of the Irish actor was revealed, it somewhat helped the public to be okay with it. Turns out Murphy is currently in the United States where he is filming Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie, Oppenheimer. So, at least we will get to see the brilliance of Murphy in a movie. We can definitely be okay with him missing this Peaky Blinders event.

The upcoming season
As confirmed before, this season of Peaky Blinders will be the final one. Thus, it will also decide the ultimate fate of every character associated with the story. At the center of everything is Thomas Shelby, the big dangerous man from Birmingham, who has us gripped to his tale. And as per writer Stephen Knight, Tommy is up against some really powerful enemies.

The series returns on February 27, 2022, with new episodes releasing every week. Fans will be able to stream the show on BBC Network or on iPlayer. We honestly can’t wait to see our favorite characters back in action, especially Cillian Murphy’s Thomas Shelby.
