Creator’s view of Ozark season 4 part 2
Ozark is a crime/drama series, but season four has focused more on the crime side of it all. Sure, there have been some major drama moments because of the crime. But, at the moment, Javier’s entry has overpowered the crime genre. Thus, Ozark creator Chris Mundy has hinted towards a shift in the last part of the series.
“The final tease really comes down to Marty and Wendy,” Chris explained where the final part was headed. “For the Byrdes, at a certain point the final seven to me are about, at what time is it healthy to stay in, and at what time is it healthy to get out, in terms of that partnership?”
Ruth plays an important role
While the creator focused more on the Byrdes, he did not forget about Ruth. Thus, the creator said, “We usually frame everything through the marriage, as much as Ruth is this gigantic part of the show, obviously. And so, to me, I really think the back seven is pretty intensely about marriage and family. And Ruth is an extension of that family.”

Ruth and the Byrdes were not on the same page at the end of season three. But the Byrdes cared for Ruth till the last moment, which justifies Chris’s statement. Marty’s assistant has had a strong character arc, and it will end in the last part.
