After the premiere of Outlander Season 6 on February 2th, 2022, in Los Angeles and London, the show’s lead cast Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan teases fans by claiming their character Claire and Jamie will face some hardship in Season 6. Viewers are wondering what hardship their favorite characters will face. Let’s find out.

What will happen in Outlander Season 6?

In a recent virtual panel, Executive producer Matthew B. Roberts also appeared with Balfe, Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, Maril Davis, and Diana Gabaldon for a questionnaire. As per Deadline, Balfe claims that the new season will inspire from Diana Gabaldon’s sixth novel A Breath of Snow and Ashes. Balfe explains her character Claire by saying that she always put forward a brave face. But after what had happened in Season 5, no one can get over that horrific situation.

Balfe also expresses, “But for Claire, she’s always been this sort of rock for other people, someone who finds it very difficult to ask for help. So when we see her, she’s trying to tell everyone that she’s ok but we see that’s not the case. She’s unraveling, and she’s not willing to admit that to herself.”

Roberts further adds that they have introduced a lot of fresh characters in season 6, just like Diana Gabaldon introduces new characters in her novel. Even as he explains, he introduces a new villain, Christies. He says, “In episode 1, we went backward by going to another book where the Christies are introduced and we need to fill that fans in that don’t know them. So we give them a little bit of a backstory on the Christies, the new villains in town.”

We will even witness Jamie and Claire drifting apart. Jamie is trying to do every right thing he can, but it is hard to change the past. Heughan explains his character in the sequel season and says, “I think what really gets between these two in their relationship—normally they talk about everything—is that for the first time, Claire doesn’t have those tools and she doesn’t consult with Jamie. I think that’s where they lose each other a little bit.”
