Out of the Whole ‘Stranger Things’ Cast, Winona Ryder “took a little onboarding” to Get Things Straight, Reveals Shawn Levy
Netflix has seen many shows come and go, but only a few shows have managed to leave as strong an imprint as Stranger Things. Ever since the fourth season of the show drew its conclusion, fans have been waiting with bated breath to see how the Hawkins gang would flare. Amidst this buzz, Shawn Levy, the executive producer of Stranger Things, revealed some interesting facts about the cast who molded the show into what it is today.
Winona Ryder, who had a significant role to play in the coming-of-age sci-fi series, apparently did not know much about what she was stepping into. Levy recently revealed that Ryder went through a quick orientation before joining the show.

Shawn Levy appeared in Josh Horowitz’s podcast, Happy Sad Confused, where he gave away interesting insights on Stranger Things. When asked if he had difficulties in convincing Ryder to do a Netflix series, Levy revealed that the 80s actress did not understand what Netflix exactly was in the first place. Ryder “took a little onboarding” to understand how the format of the OTT platform worked before joining the cast.
Levy also talked about David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, and Gaten Matarazzo’s auditions, which were “inarguable”. As per the filmmaker, all the cast members aligned magically in line with each other. He also shared how the upcoming season of the Netflix original would be “epic” in its cinematic scope. However, it will still retain the original warmth of the series, thanks to the Duffers. Apart from Stranger Things, Levy also talked about his other anticipated blockbuster, Deadpool 3.
Apart from Stranger Things, Shawn Levy also shed light on what fans could expect from the upcoming installment of the Ryan Reynolds-starrer film.

Josh Horowitz asked the filmmaker about the level of “heart” and “emotion” Deadpool 3 holds. To which Levy replied saying, “you laugh a f**kload more than you think”. The filmmaker expressed his excitement about the coming together of Wolverine and Deadpool in one movie. As per Levy, the actors who are already popular for their faux feud would bring out the movie’s full potential. Horowitz also inquired about the flurry of casting rumors around the upcoming movie.
Levy revealed that some of the casting rumors are indeed true, and it was very “easy” for him to enlist their support. This statement, once again, alludes to the possibility of Taylor Swift featuring in the upcoming movie. Out of all the rumored actors, Swift has been one of the most fan-casted celebrities for Deadpool 3. However, as the strikes are gaining momentum again, fans could be in for a longer wait to find out what unfolds in both Deadpool 3 and Stranger Things 5.
