There are very few things that can top up the exhilarating experience of watching I Am Legend for the first time in theaters. After the Oscar slap gate, Will Smith and his projects almost mirror characters in a post-apocalyptic world. Despite the scrutiny, one project that has managed to hype up everyone is I Am Legend sequel. However, Will Smith is not the only force driving its star power. I Am Legend 2 also stars Michael B. Jordan.

Owing to the movie being originally based on books, fans have many theories about what the sequel is going to be like. One theory, in particular, that points to Michael B. Jordan being a possible antagonist in the sequel is gaining momentum.

Are Michael B. Jordan and Will Smith enemies in I Am Legend 2?

In the first movie, as the world got affected by vampire-like creatures called Darkseekers, Will Smith became the only remaining pure human. This explained why the movie was titled I Am Legend. And if the alternate ending is followed and Smith being the only human left is true, then it would only be possible for Michael B. Jordan to play a darkseeker. However, it is too early to tell what parts of the sequel will align with the original source and the alternate ending. Jordan, who has amassed a huge following through his work in Black Panther and Creed movies, has generated more hype for the movie. And if he drops a hint about playing an antagonist, it would result in a packed theater for sure.

Will Smith played Robert Neville, who ended up a minority in a world predominantly populated by humans. And if Michael B. Jordan appears opposite to him as a rival force, it would make up for one of the best faceoffs. However, this is only a fan theory stemming from Akiva Goldsman’s statement to Deadline about the sequel majorly being inspired by the book.

When is I Am Legend 2 releasing?

Michael B. Jordan has just completed a successful run with Black Panther and Creed while Will Smith recently released the emotionally driven Emancipation. The Emancipation actor is reportedly busy with the filming of another anticipated sequel in the form of Bad Boys 4. However, I Am Legend 2, which has spent enough days in production, will start filming sometime soon. Based on the statements made by the creators, the movie is set for a summer 2025 release date.
