Not everything is well at the Netflix headquarters. The streamer has lost yet another gem from the catalog. With media houses withdrawing their shows from the platform to stream on their own platforms, Netflix has already lost The Office, Seinfield, and Friends. And now, the final blow came with the announcement that Schitt’s Creek will move home in October.

The Canadian television series premiered in 2015 on Pop TV to very little fanfare. Even then, it had acquired impressive critical acclaim. Soon a deal with Netflix brought the series to the global audience in 2017. And it was a comedy hit. The series also ran on CW Seed, IMDb TV, and FreeVee.

Hulu will carry Schitt’s Creek from October

From fall 2022, Schitt’s Creek won’t be available to stream on Netflix. It’s jumping to Hulu. You can stream the series on Hulu from October 3.

Based on the number of Schitt’s Creek GIFs we Slack every day, it’s no surprise that we are absolutely thrilled to welcome Johnny, Moira, Alexis, ‘David’ and the wonderfully unique residents of Schitt’s Creek to Hulu. We can’t wait to share the award-winning, blisteringly-funny, yet heartwarming series and characters with our subscribers. We know they’ll fit in nicely,” said Hulu’s President, Joe Earley.

Hulu is building its catalog while Netflix’s catalog continues to shrink. The latest Netflix Originals aren’t quite landing with the crowd either. On the other hand, Hulu tasted success with The Dropout, Abbott Elementary, and Only Murders in the Building.

Hulu has remained tight-lipped about the deal and the money involved.
