The wild and wacky world of the Monty Python series, where laughter reigns supreme, was one of the biggest comedies of the 70s. With its lovable troupe of British comedians and surreal skits that defy logic, the franchise took the world by storm. From cross-dressing sequences to poking fun at the quirks of life, each scene of the series was deliciously absurd. Through the years, the franchise continued to bring a smile and a chuckle to audiences’ hearts.

Now, in a giant leap towards inclusivity of all generations of content, the Monty Python collection has made its way to Netflix. Adding to their ever-growing list of hilarious satirical content, this show is set to become another gem for the OTT mogul’s crown.

Starting with Monty Python’s Flying Circus, the sketch-comedy show turned its success into a franchise. Another hugely popular flick from its many films was Monty Python and The Holy Grail. The majority of the troupe’s work is now available to watch on the platform, which includes the fan-favorite Life of Brian as well.

For Netflix junkies, this news comes as the cherry on the cake while they were still riding on the high of the Fast & Furious franchise’s arrival on the platform. With so many new additions, the OTT mogul is slowly becoming a one-stop shop for all things cinema.

This achievement by Netflix was only made possible because of Terry Gilliam. If it was not for the comedian, some episodes of Monty Python would have been lost forever.

For BBC, the Monty Python series came as a blessing with some of the highest ratings any of their shows have received. Yet the production house was about to re-record some of its tapes. This decision was taken to cut costs, like they did with some Doctor Who episodes. Thankfully, the disaster was averted when Terry Gilliam bought the tapes instead.

Maybe after this move, Netflix may even add Dave Chappelle’s comedy set, which was denied entry on the platform despite being as successful as Monty Python. In keeping with their newly emerging tradition of inclusive content, it would only be fair.
