Netflix Delight: A First-Half December Line-Up of Originals for a Binge-Worthy Farewell to 2023

December has surrounded the grips of coziness and the Christmas lights are decking up to welcome the ledge of year-ending festivities. With holiday plans onboarding many checklists, some are conforming to the inception of the new year with a homebound quilt affair and a streaming spree. To make the selections more intriguing for the fandom, Netflix is making sure to mob its watchlist with countless original releases.

Additionally, to make it easier for the watchers, here is a list of Netflix original releases for the first half of December to keep the popcorn marathon going. 

December 1st

1. May December: The comedy-drama premiered back on May 20th at the 70th Cannes Film Festival, followed by its release in the theatres on November 17th in the United States. The star-studded affair featuring Natalie Portman, Julianne Moore, and Charles Melton finally hit the giant streamer on December 1st. This emotional thriller, loosely based on real life, has made a compelling case for Melton to make it to the books for the best supporting role for the Oscars.

2. Women on the Edge: This Argentinian comedy flick summarises the bonding of two women after their meeting in an anger-management support group. A perfect movie for the girls’ sleepover plans, this could also be a showrunner of numerous chuckle-worthy moments.

3. Sweet Home Season 2: The South Korean drama series exploring the survival of humanity against monstrosity has come back with a second installment. The first season was released back in 2020 and garnered credible creative attention from fans of the apocalyptic horror genre. 

December 2nd-4th

1. Welcome to Samdal-ri: Next on the list is a romantic affair with not-so-cliche vibes. The South Korean show has become one of Netflix’s favorites after its release on December 2nd. With a fitting theme for the winter vibes, the series could become one of the perfect runners for the watch-fest on an indoor date night.

2. Dew Drop Diaries Season 2: When it comes to the binge-season fest, Netflix has understood the assignment well. Not just for teen and adult desires, but also for youngsters. As a result, the DreamWorks animated series which became a children’s hit has returned with a second season on December 4th. 

December 5th and 6th

1. Stavros Halkias: Fat Rascal: Featuring the comedy genius, Stavros Halkias, Netflix has released a TV show on December 5th to keep the audience at a humorous disposition. And honestly, what is December without a thread of quirky spirit?

2. Blood Coast: The crime-drama thriller has been raking the charts of suspense since its release on December 6th. The six-episodic series features the confrontation of a big-time drug dealer with a trailblazer of police officers. Never a better way to balance out the funny bones than with a crime game.

2. Christmas as Usual: Adding to the list of rom-com flicks, this movie is just the right fit before Christmas. Taking the nods of chaos and confusion to evoke hearty laughter, it reached the Netflix platform on December 6th.

December 7th: 

1. Analog Squad: The Thai drama series that made its way on Netflix on December 7th is a perfect fit for some emotional leverage for a family watch amidst the festive season.

2. High Tides: Chronicling the millennial adjustments of a teen-driven romance reaching its maturity in adulthood, this December release could be one of the most relatable series of the generation. The show is divided into 10 episodes. 

3. Hilda Season 3: Adding another nod to the children’s watchlist, Hilda is back with its final season on the giant streamer. The animated show was first released in 2018.

4. I Hate Christmas Season 2: Splashing some never-ending drama for Christmas, the Italian rom-com has returned with a second installment. And to the fans’ good fate, it released ahead of Christmas, just hours ago.

5. My Life with the Walter Boys: Scripting a contemporary dialogue of Ali Novak’s novel, the drama features the tutelage of love and friendship. 

6. Naga: Adding to the charts of high school teen drama, this Saudi comedy-thriller is a vision of excellence personified. From attending a secret party to getting stranded in a desert, the flick is a holdup of suspenseful success.

7. The Archies: Adapting the classic comic book storyline, the movie is a Bollywood creation. Serving the millennial palate of high school teenage drama, it is one of the must-watch for this season.

8. World War II: From the Frontline: With John Boyega’s narration, this show is a frontline documentary featuring the horrors of WWII. It is one of the in-depth exhibitions of the horrific events of history that rattled mankind.

December 8th-12th

1. Blood Vessel: A Netflix original Nigerian drama thriller focuses on the fate of tomorrow following an escapade trail from a town. The flick will be released today.

2. Leave the World Behind: A thrilling dramatic flick produced by Julia Roberts promises a science-fiction vouch for a psychological journey into the unknown. Having premiered at the AFI Fest on October 25th, the movie is coming to Netflix on today.

3. Kevin Hart & Chris Rock Headliners Only: Following the prime-time comedians’ journey through their friendship and careers, the documentary is supposedly unleashing on the streamer on December 12th. A heartfelt laughter and a rock-solid bond are just what December needs to maintain its warmth.

December 13th-15th

1. 1670: A documentation of Jan Adamczewski, this is a Polish documentary series to be unveiled on December 13th. The show captures the comedic satire of family feuds.

2. The Crown Season 6 Part 2: While not many have gotten over the first volume of the sixth installment, the season is coming up with its final blow. As one of the most anticipated series of the year, it will continue its story on the royals on December 14th.

3. Yu Yu Hakusho: Harkening on the live-action adaptation cartel once again, the show is expected to chronicle the classic manga. Acknowledged as “one of the kings of popularity in the mid-1990s”, this show will take release on December 14th.

4. Carol & The End of The World: Hopping onto the animation train yet again, this will feature as a limited series. And it will release on December 15th.

5. Familia: Finally, to keep the family sofa full, this drama will forge the unrelenting complexities of cohabitation. Marking half of the year-ending enthusiasm, this will provide an important telling of the realities behind the reel screens. The unleashing will be on December 15th as well.
